Opium Europe accepts all submissions online. To submit, fill out the fields below.
Know that:
We are careful about the work we publish. We read everything, and try to offer feedback on promising stories that didn’t quite work for us. So be fearless and send your most daring work.
The Wait:
Online (Magazine, Audio, Video): Three weeks.
Print: Up to four months.
Contest: Up to four months.
Word/Time Counts:
Online: 1,000 max
Print: 4,000 max
Contest: Dictated by contest type
Online vs. Print:
The print magazine and the website feature completely different content. Please do not submit the same story to both online and print. You will be caught, expunged from the community and likely electrocuted through your fingertips.
Attachments:
There is no way to attach a Word document. For format-heavy submissions, please use the formatting tools at the top of the page.
Rights:
Online we claim First Electronic Rights (meaning Opium must be the first online publication to feature the work). In print, we claim First North American Rights (meaning Opium must be the first print publication to feature the work).
Limits:
Please submit no more than two stories, or five poems, at a time to our website or print issue.
Pay:
As of right now we are a non-paying entity. We’re working to change that.
